The Jacobs office in Oakland, CA has an opening for a full time Data Processor. This is an excellent opportunity for a high school graduate that has an interest in pursuing a career in engineering.

Position Summary:

Operates a computer using a variety of software products to compile, type, revise, combine, edit, print, and store documents.

Technical/Functional Responsibilities:

• Reads instructions accompanying material, or follows verbal instructions from supervisor or person requesting document, to determine format and content required.

• Enters and analyzes data using a variety of computer software.

• Types, revises, and combines material such as correspondence, reports, records, forms, minutes of meetings, scientific or technical material, numerical data, and tabular information, from rough draft, corrected copy, recorded voice dictation, or previous draft versions.

• Proofreads and edits documents for grammar, spelling, punctuation, and format.

• May input data for revision or editing, using data entry device other than keyboard, such as optical scanner.

• 0-2 years of experience

• High school diploma required

• Has full knowledge of the job. Works under general supervision with instructions given for routine work and detailed instructions given for new activities or special assignments. Requires in-depth knowledge of one or more software products. Considerable knowledge and understanding of both the general and detailed aspects of the job; required to exercise judgment within that area. Excellent PC skills using a variety of software products, including the Microsoft Office suite.

• Works under limited supervision. May be responsible for overseeing the work of individuals at a lower level.

• Must be a California resident, residing in the East Bay or San Francisco Area; relocation assistance is not provided.
