About the Role:

Job Purpose Summary:
The Principal Quantitative Analyst will have broad responsibility for utilizing statistical analysis techniques to identify and lead strategic initiatives within Gexa and Next Era Energy Services. This role will have responsibility for identifying market and industry trends to identify areas of profitability that the business can pursue. This role will also participate in the development of economic and financial models by providing analytics that validate assumptions or reveal insight and trends.

•Develop statistical and financial models to identify strategic issues and trends which drive profit, volume, and revenue improvement for the company.
•Participate in the development of customer and market segmentation models and formulate assumptions, structure analyses, and test hypotheses using available data and sound business judgment.
•Provide monthly and quarterly financial forecasts for inclusion into the regular financial forecasting schedule.
•Provide recommendation on strategic initiatives including new business, channel development, and margin optimization.
•Create and maintain a profitability model to ensure ongoing viability of strategic initiatives.
•Provide insights on metrics and develop actionable strategies identified through market research, industry trends, and sales performance analysis.
Knowledge / Skills /Abilities:
•Superior analytical and problem solving skills to conduct financial modeling, data analysis, and development of processes for efficiency and enhanced controls.
•Ability to translate numeric analysis into strategic insight and / or business plans.
•Comfort with ambiguity; ability to work with incomplete data or seemingly open ended questions and translate into actionable analysis.
•Superior written and verbal presentation skills within ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization.
•Entrepreneurial spirit and flexibility to work in a fast paced environment with "hands-on" team player approach.
•Ability to work with minimum supervision in order to guide, coordinate, and facilitate activities across groups.
•Strong ability to lead, to execute complex problems, to multi-task and take decisive action.
•Ability to code in a statistical analysis toolkit (SAS or R), and ability to pull data using SQL. Able to work with common productivity tools including Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Visual Basic, and SQL Developer.
•Have an understanding of Energy Market and Financial fundamentals (commodity pricing and derivatives, load forecasting and profiles, industry specific financial valuation, budgeting, trend analysis).
•Must be a proven self-starter - high integrity, energy, enthusiasm, tenacity.

•7 years general business experience required with a combination/preference in strategy, planning, marketing, financial analysis, economics.
•Retail industry experience preferred.
•BS/BA from an accredited four year college or university with a degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, Marketing, Business Management, Mathematics, Engineering, or Hard Sciences preferred.

Secondary Job Functions:
Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Job Standards:
Performance will be based on successful completion of all job functions up to the productivity standards and timeframes established and directed by Management.

Preferred Qualifications:
Masters' Degree in Related Field Preferred

Other Qualifications: PhD is preferred
