The student selected will work at Jacobs' Tullahoma, TN office for the Spring term of 2017. The student will work in the Structural Engineering group - a group that performs engineering design of testing equipment and facilities for the automotive and aerospace industries.
Students will work 40-hour work weeks for the duration of the term. Students will work on project teams under the directions of a manager and with the assistance of a mentor, and will assist out structural engineering staff by developing engineering calculations, design details and other duties as required. A combination of structural steel and concrete design are anticipated. Interns must make an end-of-assignment presentation to other interns and Jacobs' staff.
Degree Program: BSCE or MSCE
Cumulative GPA: 3.0 or higher
Current Status: Junior or above
Area of Study: Civil Engineering
Outside Activities: Involvement in at least one extra-curricular activity
Coursework: Steel design, concrete design, statics, strengths of materials, computer applications
Experience: 3D CAD, Finite Element Analysis is a plus
Other: Must have the right to work permanently in the United States, good verbal and written communication skills, must be team-oriented, good problem solving skills, high self-motivated, willing to take initiative, and able to work with minimum supervision.
