Provide Wind Tunnel Systems support for the Jacobs ATOM Group at NASA Ames Research Center in the Unitary Plan Wind Tunnel facility in Mountain View, California . Install and maintain instrumentation used in wind tunnel testing including pressure, temperature, force, angle, and motion measurements. Provide technical support on customer developed wind tunnel test articles. Requires ability to perform electronic assembly and installation including soldering, composition of prototype circuits, cables, taper pins, and other instrument connections. Experience with strain gauges, static and dynamic pressure transducers, accelerometers, signal amplifiers, and instrument metrology. Requires the knowledge and skills to understand wiring schematics, control systems and relay logic circuits. This position requires shift work including Day, Swing and Grave shifts, depending on wind tunnel test requirements. This position also requires the candidate to complete on the job Safety Training to perform assigned work activities. This candidate must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret level security clearance to allow participation in testing of classified test articles.
A minimum of four years of experience in technical instrumentation. Equivalent experience in advanced electronics or other fields pertinent to the position may be substituted. Ability to use test equipment e.g. (oscilloscopes, multimeters). Experience with working in small to medium sized multidisciplinary groups will be helpful. Background and experience in aeronautics, instrumentation, data systems and wind tunnel testing is also desirable.
