Provide Wind Tunnel Systems support for the Jacobs ATOM Group at NASA Ames Research Center in the Unitary Plan Wind Tunnel facility in Mountain View California. Perform data system entries, parameter updates, backups, debugging, and other duties as necessary to ensure data integrity and efficient system operations. Coordinate with the Test Managers, Instrumentation Engineers, Instrumentation Technicians, facility staff, and external aerospace Customers as required. Configure data system displays, setup and monitor data system terminals, computer systems, and network connectivity. This position requires shift work including Day, Swing, and Grave shifts, depending on wind tunnel test requirements. This position also requires the candidate to complete on the job Safety Training to perform assigned work activities. This candidate must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret level security clearance to allow participation in testing of classified test articles.
This position requires a minimum of an Associates Degree in a computer related field, a Bachelor of Science degree is preferred in Computer Science, Aero, Math/Physics or other related fields. Familiarity with computers, networks and software is required with a focus in UNIX, Unix Scripting, Mac OS, Windows OS, and Windows Server OS. Experience with FileMaker Pro, Solaris OS, Red Hat, Python, PyDatamine, ClearCase Configuration Management, C/C++, cable terminations, and IT Security best practices. Experience with working in small to medium sized multidisciplinary groups will be helpful. Background and experience in aeronautics, instrumentation, data systems and wind tunnel testing is also desirable.
