Performs a variety of duties with minimal supervision concerned with the operations on a wide variety of complex industrial equipment. Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following: operates fixed environmental test chamber; monitors/controls operation of portable conditioning chambers located throughout Aberdeen and Edgewood areas of APG utilizing the LAN central console; performs control setups, instrumentation monitoring and general instrument operations; performs operations, preventive maintenance, and visual inspections on all equipment associated with fixed environmental chambers; assists test personnel; assists technicians from private industry during large repairs and/or modifications; operates chamber refrigeration equipment from a PC-based workstation; accesses plant wide information, initiates set points and operational changes through communications with the microprocessor panels; monitors alarm system; follows SOPs listed in the facilities Risk Management Plan; assists testing personnel to meet test requirements; and wears appropriate PPE when required.
1) Must possess or be capable of obtaining an Ammunition (Ammo 45) Defense Ammunition Center Computer-Based Training Certificate.
2) Must possess or be capable of obtaining an Ammunition Certification Level I.
3) Must possess a EPA Refrigerant Transition and Recovery Certification.
4) Must possess a Maryland State HVAC Apprentice License.
5) Must possess a RETA (CARO) Certified Apprentice Operator or equivalent certification within 1 year of employment.
6) After 3 months of employment, personnel shall be able to demonstrate the ability to navigate the FES workstation for all test and maintenance operations; personnel shall demonstrate knowledge of the ammonia equipment and routine maintenance required. This requirement is a qualification to work at Bldg. 383A/B/C test facilities.

UNUSUAL OR SPECIAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS OF POSITION
Operates wheeled vehicles and material handling equipment such as 4,000 to 15,000 pound forklifts and warehouse cranes. The ability to bend, stoop, squat, crawl, crouch, kneel, reach above shoulder level and climb into or under a vehicle is required (up to 50%). Walking a minimum of 50 yards over rough terrain is required (up to 25%). The ability to push and pull as well as lift and carry up to 50 pounds is required (up to 50%).
DESCRIPTION OF WORK ENVIRONMENT
Work environment will be mostly outside depending on task. The ability to work in outside field conditions that include hot and cold temperatures and other outdoor climatic conditions is required (up to 90%). Must be able to work in areas where only portable restroom facilities are available (up to 25%). Maintenance to equipment will be performed in the field and shop areas. Work environment may be fast-paced and require work under pressure to meet deadlines associated with the completion of a task. Position will require multiple task efforts.
EQUIPMENT AND MACHINES INVOLVED IN WORK TASKS
Test equipment which includes generators, portable pumps, field kitchens, engineering bridges, air conditioning/heating units, and field laundries. Operates wheeled vehicles and material handling equipment such as 4,000 to 15,000 pound forklifts and warehouse cranes in support of the test items.
CRITICALITY OF ATTENDANCE
Attendance is critical at all times during normal duty hours. Work outside of normal duty hours, including weekends and holidays, may be required with as little as one-hour advance notice.
OTHER ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Must be able to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing. Must be able to obtain an interim secret security clearance in order to gain access to required areas, networks and systems within thirty (30) days of date of your offer letter. Must further be able to obtain and retain a secret security clearance. Must be able to provide proof of U.S. citizenship. Must be able to obtain and retain unescorted access to work areas. Must also receive a physical examination in accordance with the requirements of ATC. May be subject to other physicals or exams if required to wear a respirator or are designated by the COR to have other physicals due to the work area in which you are assigned. Must be able to wear personal protective equipment as required. Must have a valid driver's license and personal transportation for the purpose of moving around the proving ground to accomplish job functions and in order to operate a rental vehicle if and when travel is required. Must be able to obtain and maintain a military driver's license within 30 days of employment.
