May perform a variety of duties independently concerned with the operations, maintenance, repair, overhaul and modification on a wide variety of complex industrial equipment. Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following: operates environmental test chambers (fixed) that use multiple types of refrigerants; monitors/controls operation of portable conditioning chambers located throughout Aberdeen and Edgewood areas of APG utilizing the LAN central console; performs control setups, instrumentation monitoring and general instrument operations; assists in setting up data acquisition systems to record/retrieve/report data; performing operations, preventive maintenance, repairs and visual inspections on all equipment associated with chambers and portable boxes; interprets and troubleshoots blue prints, drawings, diagrams and schematics; assists technicians from private industry during large repairs or modifications; operates chamber refrigeration equipment from a PC-based workstation; accesses plant wide information, initiates set points and operational changes through communications with the microprocessor panels; monitors alarms and responds promptly with the necessary repairs; assists personnel to meet test requirements; responsible for ongoing review and maintenance of facility SOPs documented in the Risk Management Plan; attends management of change board meetings; maintains and tracks the data on the maintenance and repair software program; serves as the lead operator on assigned shift and wears appropriate PPE when required.
1) Must possess or be capable of obtaining an Ammunition (Ammo 45) Defense Ammunition Center Computer-Based Training Certificate.
2) Must possess or be capable of obtaining an Ammunition Certification Level I.
3) Must possess a EPA Refrigerant Transition and Recovery Certification.
4) Must possess a Maryland State HVAC Journeyman's License or equivalent License.
5) Must possess a RETA (CIRO) Certified Industrial Refrigeration Operator or equivalent certification within 1 year of employment.
6) After 3 months of employment, personnel shall be able to demonstrate the ability to navigate the FES workstation for all test and maintenance operations; personnel shall demonstrate knowledge of the ammonia equipment and routine maintenance required. This requirement is a qualification to work at Bldg 383A/B/C test facilities.

UNUSUAL OR SPECIAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS OF POSITION
Operates wheeled vehicles and material handling equipment such as 4,000 to 15,000 pound forklifts and warehouse cranes. The ability to bend, stoop, squat, crawl, crouch, kneel, reach above shoulder level and climb into or under a vehicle is required (up to 50%). Walking a minimum of 50 yards over rough terrain is required (up to 25%). The ability to push and pull as well as lift and carry up to 50 pounds is required (up to 50%).
DESCRIPTION OF WORK ENVIRONMENT
Work environment will be mostly outside depending on task. The ability to work in outside field conditions that include hot and cold temperatures and other outdoor climatic conditions is required (up to 90%). Must be able to work in areas where only portable restroom facilities are available (up to 25%). Maintenance to equipment will be performed in the field and shop areas. Work environment may be fast-paced and require work under pressure to meet deadlines associated with the completion of a task. Position will require multiple task efforts.
EQUIPMENT AND MACHINES INVOLVED IN WORK TASKS
Test equipment which includes generators, portable pumps, field kitchens, engineering bridges, air conditioning/heating units, and field laundries. Operates wheeled vehicles and material handling equipment such as 4,000 to 15,000 pound forklifts and warehouse cranes in support of the test items.
CRITICALITY OF ATTENDANCE
Attendance is critical at all times during normal duty hours. Work outside of normal duty hours, including weekends and holidays, may be required with as little as one-hour advance notice.
OTHER ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Must be able to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing. Must be able to obtain an interim secret security clearance in order to gain access to required areas, networks and systems within thirty (30) days of date of your offer letter. Must further be able to obtain and retain a secret security clearance. Must be able to provide proof of U.S. citizenship. Must be able to obtain and retain unescorted access to work areas. Must also receive a physical examination in accordance with the requirements of ATC. May be subject to other physicals or exams if required to wear a respirator or are designated by the COR to have other physicals due to the work area in which you are assigned. Must be able to wear personal protective equipment as required. Must have a valid driver's license and personal transportation for the purpose of moving around the proving ground to accomplish job functions and in order to operate a rental vehicle if and when travel is required.
