Lead Engineer manages the project from a technical point of view and takes over the specs/proposal sold to a customer and leads the design, follow-up manufacturing and factory acceptance of the equipment in close coordination with customers, suppliers and rest of ABB project team.
Technical specifications review & preparation:
-Reviews the Customers & Front-End Sales Team technical specifications for a project. Based on those and the project WBS, prepares the suppliers technical specifications, in collaboration with SCM.
Design review and approvals:
-Leads the customer, ABB team and suppliers to create first a process layout, then the sub-elements and finally follows-up/approves the detailed designs created by others. The main expertise area to focus on directly will be the process layout, tooling design, and welding process equipment. The electrical/controls part would be much supported by other team members but the lead in front of customer would be unique and hold by this position.
-Leads the elaboration of the project documentation assuring fulfilment of customer and ABB standards.
Suppliers follow-up and quality assurance:
-Oversees fulfilment of manufacturing lead-times and quality level of subcontracted equipment (specially tooling and welding equipment).
Factory acceptance tests (FAT):
-Oversees the ABB factory acceptance tests to secure the functionality, specifications and quality of the equipment is achieved before shipping to customer site.
Support to Sales team and Installation & Commissioning team:
-On demand, gives technical advice to highly specialized requests from the sales team as well as on-site support to commissioning team when technical problems pop-up.
-University Degree in Engineering (other Technical Degree might be considerated), preferably Mechanical and/or Electrical engineer.
-Speaking, reading & writing fluently in English required. Knowledge of Spanish and French will be appreciated.
-Good Knowledge in 2D/3D designing tools (Autocad, SolidWorks, Catia ...).
-Simulation software as RobCad, RobotStudio appreciated.
-Proven experience (>5 years) in Engineering / Applications department with Automotive Customers in international projects in Body-in-White projects, having a deep knowledge of welding processes and equipments.
- Knowledge of robotic products and experience in project management and/or field installations (as site manager or similar) would be appreciated.
-Strong understanding of customer and automotive market dynamics and requirements.
-Team working skills and ability to follow-up internal processes and tools.
-Tidy and dynamic person, flexible with autonomy and decision.
-Willingness to travel sometimes and work in a global team of professionals.
