About the Role:

The technician will be working in VEV Body and Climate Control Sign-Off Department (Part of PD/NAE - Vehicle Evaluation and Validation). The technician will be assigned the following responsibility:

Prototype vehicle tracking
  • Build location of (NMPDC / Roush) - both physically (in person) and by schedule
  • Visit prototype build sites daily - check on scheduled vehicles and status
  • Interface with vehicle coordinators / test planners
  • Pick up, movement, return of vehicle prototypes to and from (DDC, DTF, EVB, PDC, APTL, Roush, MPG)

Overall prototype vehicle familiarity / function

Climate system function check

Follow prototypes updates / repairs / instrumentation.

Read calibrations
• MyCanic, ATI
• Climate control software
• Flashing

Support test scheduling / ELMS creation

Support wind tunnel and EVB testing

Support APTL Build 4 testing
High School Diploma with a minimum of four (4) years of related experience.
• Technical degree with test lab experience
• Willingness to learn to distinguish automotive parts and general functionality
• Willingness to learn basic electrical test methodologies
• General knowledge of computers & interfacing skills
• General technical aptitude
• Good customer service skills and attitude

• Good communication skills

Essential Functions

P hysical Requirements

Lifting parts, cables & lightweight instrumentation, up to 50 lbs - 60%

Sitting (75%), standing (50%), bending (25%), stooping (25%)

Safety glasses, gloves, hardened toe slip resistant shoes- 100%

High noise in some work areas, requiring use of hearing protection

Work Environment

Inside test facility 90%

Extreme hot/cold temperatures involved - 10%

Energized samples, rotating parts - 50%

Local travel - 5%

Equipment and Machines

Computers, copy machines, fax machines - 25%

Vehicle operation - 15%

Hand tools, multi-meters, and other electrical diagnostic devices - 10%


Dayshift, but must be able to support flexible test schedule into other shifts and/or weekends - 100%

Regular attendance and punctuality are critical

Other Essential Functions

Must complete and pass a pre-employment drug screen, health performance evaluation, and background check. Must have a valid driver's license.

Must demonstrate professional behavior at all times when dealing with customers, management and co-workers. Must have clear, concise and accurate communications skills in English, both verbal and written. Grooming and dress must be appropriate for the position and must no impose a safety risk to self or others. Must maintain a positive work atmosphere by behaving and communicating in a professional manner. Dependable personal transportation to work site is required.
