About the Role:


Battery Cell Integration Lab (BCIL) Test Technician is responsible for supporting the Design Verification (DV) physical testing, and certification of traction battery pack systems for hybrid and electric vehicles. You work hand-in-hand with test and design engineers to support the company's product testing needs to support execution of functional, safety, and thermal performance tests on battery pack systems. You will be required to become proficient in test site installation, equipment/instrumentation connection, proper functional verification of test set-up, and start-up of the site automation system (Lynx). Becoming safety certified to perform high voltage electrical and mechanical tests is required upon start-up.

Primary Duties:

  • Regular/Daily tasks include:
    • Installation of battery cell/pack tests for test cycling per Test Request Requirements
    • Verification of proper test set-up, including instrumentation and ancillary systems
    • Ability to execute basic debug of test set-up, stand, or product issues
    • Initiating automated testing via the Lynx Test Site automation system
    • Proper and descriptive documentation of test status and key events in the Lab Management System
    • Notification of Test Engineering and appropriate Lab Support Personnel of issues as they arise
  • Removal of test parts and executing "de-prep" procedures for proper part identification and safe storage
  • Identify to test Engineering any quality or efficiency issues during the execution of standard tests, including flagging "nuisance alarms", non-value added or highly frequent manual checks, and similar
  • Assist in the instrumentation of test devices and design/build up test fixtures to meet customer requirements

Job Responsibilities:
  • Setting up Standard Lynx Automation Test Scripts to Test Request parameters
  • Installation of supplemental site controls and associated I/O to support test execution
  • Prepare test samples (as required) in accordance with test instructions adhering to established standards and procedures.
  • Validation of proper test run through periodic monitoring of signals and cycle targets; intervening when proper run is visibly in question, with notification to the assigned Test Engineer
  • Assist other technicians in the day-to-day execution of testing as needed
  • Manage and maintain lab equipment inventory, installation, and usage; including proper adherence to Calibration and Maintenance requirements
  • Maintain and verify the calibration and maintenance of test equipment and test systems
  • Adhere to all Lab Procedures; suggest process improvements where evident
  • Comply with all Environmental, Health, & Safety, and ISO documented procedures

  • High School Diploma
  • Laboratory test experience required, with demonstrated ability to set-up and run automated testing
  • An understanding of vehicle powertrain, power supply, and vehicle electrical system operation with an emphasis on High Voltage / HEV / BEV applications a plus
  • A working knowledge of instrumentation measurement systems, particularly transducers and their operation - temperature, pressure, fluid flow, et al;
  • Basic electrical and electronics, instrumentation and troubleshooting skills
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment, taking direction from multiple sources as needed
  • Basic MS Office skills in Word and Excel required
  • Fabrication skills a strong plus
  • Associate technical degree or equivalent experience a plus

Dayshift, but must be able to support our flexible test schedule into other shifts and/or weekends, 100%

Attendance is critical, 100%

Punctuality is critical, 100%

Work hours are normally 8 hours per day and 5 days per week, Monday-Friday. Regular attendance of scheduled hours is extremely important. Punctuality and regular attendance are necessary. Must have flexibility of work days to cover weekend testing requirements.

Other Essential Functions

Must have a Valid Driver license, pass a drug screen, background check, and health performance evaluation.

Must demonstrate professional behavior at all times when dealing with customers, management and co-workers. Must have clear, concise and accurate communications skills in English, both verbal and written. Grooming and dress must be appropriate for the position and must not impose a safety risk to employees or others. Must maintain a positive work atmosphere by behaving and communicating in a professional manner. Independent personal transportation to office or work site is required. Travel to and from customer's locations and the test fields may be required to support projects. This may involve airline travel. In some cases, accommodations can possibly be made for POV, if necessary. When operating any vehicle for work purposes, must wear seat belt and in addition, no cellular devices are to be used when vehicle is in motion.
