Jacobs currently has an opening for a Network Engineer to join their team.
The individual will have:
In-Depth understanding of networking systems and TCP/IP to include experience in IP Addressing and Subnetting; Network Address Translations; MTU; QOS
Strong knowledge of routing and switching systems (Cisco or Juniper); understanding of routing protocols (OSPF, EIGRP and BGP) and Gateway Redundancy Protocols (HSRP, VRRP and GLRP)
Working knowledge of STP, VTP and Virtual LAN's and Trunking (VLANs); Network Security ATM, MPLS, POS multicast and how to properly implement these technologies
Ability to perform (intermediate level) configuration, testing and troubleshooting of IP Network infrastructure (LAN & WAN devices)
Demonstrate the ability to work with customers to determine network requirement, write system requirement documents and develop design solutions (Physical & Logical) that are in compliance with best engineering practices, standards and guidelines
Experience with Type 1 cryptographic equipment from both an engineering and policy perspective
Tier 4 troubleshooting. Involves troubleshooting complex network issues in which other components.
An active TS SCI Poly is required for this position.
Expert - Positions at this level are responsible for overall Lead Engineer. Expected technical lead expert for design of enterprise wide and lead 4 Tier network configuration/performance problem resolutions. Familiarity with IT Service Management best practices and ITIL Framework. Providing routing and switching technology expertise and guidance to working groups to enable change and improvement initiatives across the branch and network partner organizations when necessary.
Certifications: Expert - CCIE, JNCIE or 10+ years of experience in IP Network Technology
BS degree in a computer or system science discipline from an accredited college or university and ten (10) to fourteen (14) years of progressive, relevant experience, or an MS degree in a computer or system science discipline and eight (8) to twelve (12) years of progressive experience, or a Ph.D. degree in a computer or system science discipline and four (4) to seven (7) years of progressive experience.
Requires demonstrated technical expertise in engineering systems design and analysis. Essential Job Functions:
General Office environment. The work environment is fast-paced and sometimes involves extreme deadline pressures. The nature of the work requires a high degree of teamwork and cooperation with other members of the staff as well as individuals across the Company and Customers.
Most work will be done at a desk or computer.
Equipment and Machines
General office equipment including PC/laptop, Fax, Copiers, Shredder, Printers, Telephone, and other miscellaneous office equipment.
Attendance is critical at all times. Needs to be available to work overtime during critical peaks and be available to meet last minute requests for overtime should the situation occur.
