Jacobs Cyber Security Group is a cyber security engineering and analysis arm of Jacobs Engineering company. Due to our rapid growth, we have an immediate opening for a Systems Administrator II supporting our Department of Justice Program.
The candidate will be working 12 hour shifts 3 days a week and 4 days every other week from 7pm-7am. This is mission critical work so the candidates would be expected to show up for their shift even if the government is closed (such as during snow storms etc). The candidate will be working in teams of 3 people in a 24x7x365 environment and monitoring systems for failure (the monitoring system is a Linux OS so the candidate should be comfortable with BASIC linux commands). Once a failure is detected the candidate will identify the faulty circuit board and make repairs on the spot.
ENGINEERING TECHNICAN shall have an Associate's degree in computer technology or 2 years of full time work in a High Performance computer field that can be substituted for the AA degree. The Engineering Technician must have experience with an understanding of the concepts, procedures and guidelines to solve highly complex problems in the maintenance and hardware/software network infrastructure. Experience performing system set-up, experiments and diagnostics to evaluate printed circuit board exchanges, and troubleshoot and make component repairs based on test results. Knowledge and experience of LINUX Operations Systems, Knowledge and experience in electronics component repair. Essential Functions Physical Requirements:
- Sitting at a desk.
- May require lifting and carrying supplies.
- Extended periods of sitting while on PC/laptop or phone.
- Ability to lift ~50 lbs
Equipment and Machines:
- An inside office environment (Considerations: Closed quarters, lighting, and temperature fluctuations)
Needs to be able to work well with and support co-workers and clients
Needs to have clear, concise and accurate communication skills
- Standard office equipment and machines, computer workstation
- Work assignments dependent on requirements by the client. If hired for a full-time position, it is important to be able to work at least 8 hours a day for 5 days per week (Monday through Friday).
