Performs a wide variety of Occupational Health and Safety related activities. Provides pro-active safety support to all internal and external customers. Ensures all safety related customer requirements are met and documented, as well as applicable federal, state, local Air Force and Corporate requirements. Performs facility and project oversight and safety advisory support to a wide range of activities, including design, build, test and analysis. Familiar with safety incentive programs and workforce safety culture enhancement methodology. Development, implementation and maintenance of educational and training courses for all employees specifically related to safety in the workplace. Participation required in mishap investigation, preparation of mishap reports and overseeing implementation of corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
Two (2) years of college or related training in the safety field, plus fourteen (14) years relevant experience, or any equivalent combination of education/experience for a total of sixteen (16) years. A minimum of eight (8) years experience in a safety related field is preferred. Certified Safety Professional (CSP) and pertinent societal affiliations preferred. Confined Space trained/certified experience preferred; CPR and First Aid Instructor certified. Must be familiar with equipment inspections and operations, crane, forklift, man-lift. Incident Control Systems (I.C.S.) trained/certified. General knowledge of OSHA Air Force Safety Regulations, Fall Protection, SCB's and HazMat required.
May require sitting in front of a computer for extended periods of time (50%). The ability to bend, stoop, squat, crouch, kneel, reach above shoulder level and climb into a vehicle is required (up to 50%). Walking and working over rough terrain is required (50%). The ability to push and pull as well as lift and carry up to 50 lbs. is required (up to 50%).
Expected to be able to lift 50 lbs. safely and safe use of ladders are required. Must be able to work in a team atmosphere and demonstrate leadership that enhances productivity and promotes teamwork and cooperation.
Office equipment operation - copier, computer, general equipment, fax, etc. - 10%. Operate a forklift - 5%; drive a pickup truck - 5%; drive a 1-1/2 to 3 ton truck - 5%.
Urgency of punctuality and regular attendance - 100%. Work outside of normal duty hours may be required with as little as one-hour advance notice.
Must be able to communicate effectively (verbal and written) with personnel at various levels of the organization as well as the client. Must be able to work in a tam atmosphere and demonstrate leadership that enhances productivity and promotes teamwork and cooperation. Must be able to understand and follow instructions. Grooming and dress must be appropriate for the position and must not impose a safety risk/hazard to the employee or others. Must be able to obtain a National Agency Check with Inquiries (NACI)/Security Clearance as required. Must have a valid CA driver's license. Must be able to provide proof of U.S. Citizenship.
