What we're looking for

Experienced Stakeholder Engagement Managers who have strong track record of delivering engagement on complex technical projects. You will act as a key point of contact for internal technical teams, the client and their stakeholders.

You will be able to develop relationships, engagement and consultation strategies/delivery plans to deliver the client's objectives and lead a structured approach to regular communications with stakeholders. You will be required to champion stakeholder issues and concerns with technical teams making sure that the views and insight from local stakeholders to be considered as the scheme develops. As one of the most viable project staff (with clients and stakeholder) you must be adapt at and providing a consistent public face to varying projects.

This requires highly developed skills in interacting with people at all levels and building strong relationships, both internally and externally. Strong abilities in external stakeholder engagement and corporate relationship management is a must. We and you need to be confident that you can manage relationships no matter how easy or challenging they become. You will need to be organised, diplomatic, and able to turn potentially tricky situations into positive ones. You'll also need to care about what you do and be committed to delivering high quality engagement.

While direct client/customer relationship experience is not necessarily required, we are looking for Managers who can gain the confidence of our clients and grow commercial relationships.

Creativity and energy is also key, with expertise encompassing media including print, digital, and some experience of press. A good understanding of consultations is also required.


The role / your responsibilities will include:

  • Leading engagement projects for a single client;
  • Managing day to day contact with the client and stakeholders;
  • Actively engaging with residents, community groups, business and the hard to reach including young people;
  • Creating and maintain the forward plan for activity to deliver the strategic objectives;
  • Delivering multi-channel consultations;
  • Managing internal deliverables (risk, project planning etc.);
  • Ensuring regular update are provide to project teams and the client; and
  • Line management of engagement staff

Essential Criteria

  • Experience of engaging with stakeholders on challenging projects
  • Evidence of planning and delivering community engagement activity on a regional or national level, in particular the use of innovative techniques.
  • Experience of presenting to large groups.
  • Evidence of establishing strong stakeholder relationships.
  • Liaising across organisations/functions.
  • Budget management.
  • Programme and project management.
  • Management of public events and engagement activity.
  • Delivery of engagement programmes across wide-ranging stakeholder groups.

Desirable Skills

  • A degree or equivalent qualification in communications, public relations or similar discipline.
  • Relevant work experience which demonstrates applied knowledge of engagement and communications.
  • Relevant work experience in a communications or engagement role.
