About the Role:

Ensures, manages and optimizes the technical quality, maintainability, compliance and interfaces of services within the IS Hosting tower in the Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) time zone area. This position is based in the EMEA time zone. Please refer to the 'additional information' section for further guidance.

- Consultant:
Acts as and is regarded as an SME authority for Hosting Tower and will be assigned SAP Basis IS services.

- Consulting delivery:
Accountable for managing the technical quality, maintainability of application/ infrastructure and interfaces.
Initiates proactive and reactive service improvements to ensure the quality of operational processes delivered by internal and external suppliers.
Facilitates IS Supply in incident and problem management by acting as single point of contact at the functional/tactical level for the assigned infrastructure or applications for both colleagues and IS Supply and coordinating the input of the parties in finding solutions to incidents.

- Maintainability and control:
Controls system functionality, optimization of infrastructure/application performance and operational services, according to agreed service levels (capacity, availability and performance).
Assesses and flags application/infrastructure in view of life cycle management and advises IS management accordingly.
Collaborates with IS suppliers with regard to the operational implementation of outsourced activities and/or the current license usage, consistent with existing agreements.
Conveys architecture, standards, policies, norms, and guidelines to IS Supply.

- Problem management:
Responsible for assessing and providing recommendations relating to trend analyses of incidents, working with the relevant IS Service Coordinators.
- Responsible for validation of problem suggestions and recommending prioritization if applicable.
Approves/rejects resolution of problem tickets.

- Change management (related to Maintainability and Control):
Validates or initiates requests for change of corrective, adaptive, perfective or preventive nature.
Validates proposals from internal/external IS suppliers from a technical perspective.
Conducts IS impact analyses of requests for change in view of architecture, technical quality and maintainability of application/infrastructure.
Assesses the effort for realizing changes by internal/external IS suppliers and advises IS management accordingly.
Creates and/or approves technical specifications for changes based on functional as well as non-functional requirements and functional specifications.
Conducts system tests and accepts/rejects deliverables based on technical specifications, and supports the business with execution of End User Acceptance tests.
Accepts/rejects change deliverables including deployments based on technical specifications.

- Incident management:
Correlates information regarding incidents within an individual tower on an exceptional basis, identifying potential patterns and trends.

- Service design & introduction (changes to the Run Business Service Catalog)
Validates proposals from internal/external IS suppliers from a technical perspective.
Creates and/or approves technical specifications for service designs based on functional as well as non-functional requirements and functional specifications.
Conducts IS impact analyses of IS service introductions in view of architecture, technical quality and maintainability of application/infrastructure.

- Knowledge:
Keeps knowledge up to date regarding processes, technology and industry practices in relation to IS Hosting Tower SAP Basis Service.

- IS - Services
Hosting Services

- Incident, Change or Project:
Challenges the IS service providers regarding content and process and makes recommendations for improvements.

- ABB IS EA and IS Strategy:
Keeps up to date and informed about any change or planned change of the ABB IS Enterprise Architecture and ABB IS Strategy.

Supports the management and optimization of service delivery for IS Tower SAP basis Service.
Performs assigned activities in the service catalog management, change implementation management, release & deployment management, incident and major incident management, event management, service level management, problem management processes to ensure delivery of IS Services.
- Governance:
Adheres to IS process framework and governance model.
Chairs the Cross Tower SME Meeting.

All applicants should ensure that they understand and are capable of meeting the accountabilities listed in the 'tasks' section for this position. Additionally, the role will require:

- Competence in spoken and written English;
- Cultural awareness and the ability to work in a complex, multicultural and global team;
- Be a committed team player;
- Experience of managing IS Hosting Services;
- Will be required to periodically work shifts incorporating either an early start or late finish;
- Previous experience of managing supplier performance is preferred;
- BSc with 6+ years of experience;

- Technical requirements:
• Excellent knowledge of SAP installs on SAP components;
• Extensive "hands-on" experience of SAP running on AIX, Linux, Windows OSs and Oracle/DB2 platforms;
• Extensive "hands-on" SAP Basis administration with excellent experience of BASIS in configuration, analysis and troubleshooting;
• Good knowledge of architecture of SAP NetWeaver (SAP Accelerator), Solution Manager, and business applications (ECC, BI & Portal);
• Good knowledge across the infrastructure, network and application layers.
