About the Role:

Our client, a world leader in research and development, and manufacture of health-care products require a SHE specialist with a minimum of 5 years relevant experience in SHE operations, and ideally working towards a degree in Occupational Health, Engineering or similar.

Responsibilities will include:
Help implement the overarching SHE vision and policy.
Oversee implementation and management of the SHE Management System.
Review, evaluate, and report on SHE performance, and periodically audit and review the SHE Management System effectiveness.
Provide direction to support and enable on-going business operations.
Help establish and drive KPIs and other metrics to assess performance which are consistent with industry World Class performance.
Assure SHE capabilities and skill sets, including case management, and leadership are in place to deliver and sustain targeted SHE performance.
Assure that the appropriate systems are in place to protect the health and safety of key stakeholders including employees, contractors, visitors and others.
Recommend, develop, and assist in the implementation of SHE strategic plans and programs which identify and communicate workplace hazards, remove hazards, and establish engineering and administrative controls including training.
Maintain awareness and communicate to stakeholders advancing SHE-related technology and innovations in safe workplace practices, environmental design and operational practices.
Demonstrate leadership in the implementation of same, partnering with all business functions, in gaining business value.
Maintain awareness and communicate changes to applicable regulations, and ensure regional changes are made to meet regulations, including OSHA, and all other EU governing bodies.
Work closely with the Global head of Construction Safety and the Leadership Teams to implement key SHE-related business initiatives, both short- and long-range.
Acts as a proactive champion for SHE.
Support participation in SHE industry bench-marking surveys, and present results to senior leadership teams.
Provide guidance and coaching with the leadership teams to develop and assure high-performing work teams within their functional areas.
Provide primary SHE interface to the Global head of Construction Safety on all SHE service areas.
Ensure best practice sharing and collaboration with the Global head of Construction Safety and leadership teams.
Oversee the implementation of Regional Safety Programs.
Confirm and assure implementation of core OSHA Safety Compliance Programs to address fire and life safety, fire alarm impairment, emergency response, Lockout Tagout (LOTO), hot work, powered industrial vehicles, controlled energy/pressure, confined space access as examples.
Assure Contractor Safety Programs meet compliance requirements performed by external service providers, including construction projects.
Validate selection, development and implementation of Manufacturing and Process Safety Programs.
Ensure work processes and systems are in-place to effectively conduct hazard reviews, process hazard analysis, design, handling, human factors (ergonomics) assessments, and selecting inherently safer controls.
Facilitate development of Behavioural Safety Program aimed at improving safety performance.
Confirm validation, development and implementation of Occupational Health Programs which define specific needs in the areas of Medical Surveillance and Employee Health.
Confirm appropriate employee and contractor medical surveillance for respiratory protection, vaccinations, and hearing conservation.
Validate employee health services for injury and illness response and management; workplace claims filing and management; return to work programs; OSHA/ EU mandated; PPE management and ergonomics.
Confirm validation, development and implementation of Environmental Affairs and Compliance Programs.
Ensure processes and systems are in-place for preparation and submittal of Regulatory Reports; Permit Applications and Renewal, Spill Prevention Control and Countermeasures (SPCC) Regulation and Management.
Ensure regional readiness for audits and inspections.
Assist with negotiations with regulatory agencies on specific regulatory requirements, permit conditions and responses to noncompliance.
Establish resource conservation and sustainability initiatives including waste minimisation, recycling and reuse in key regional-specific areas.
Analyse and report on Environmental Sustainability.
Develop and maintain long-term business relationships with key SHE service providers.
Develop contact management process for services. Program to maintain required performance levels and overall health of the business and operational relationships.

Monitor, audit and ensure service providers operate in accordance with approved management controls.
