Aqualis Offshore wins Mexican installation contract
Oslo: Oil-drilling service provider Perforadora Mexico has contracted international marine engineering consultant Aqualis Offshore to help with transporting and installing a platform rig offshore Mexico.
The 108-module Veracruz platform rig, being fabricated at Lone Star yard in Baytown, Texas, will need to be installed on the Ayasil A fixed platform, which is operated by Pemex, the state oil company. The modules range in weight from 10-147 tonnes.
Aqualis Offshore, a Norwegian firm with many offices worldwide, has set up an operations office in Ciudad del Carmen, to support offshore rig owners and oil service companies operating in the coastal city.
Its role in the Veracruz installation will be mainly monitoring and documenting the movement and installation of the platform rig.
In this case, following assembly, hook-up and commissioning at the yard, the platform is taken apart and shipped in modules on barges to the Ayasil A platform, where the modules and associated items will be lifted onto the platform and reconnected
