Transocean General Counsel leaves
Transocean, an international offshore drilling services contractor for oil and gas, Thursday announced that Lars Sjöbring, Senior Vice President and General Counsel, would be leaving the company.
The drilling services contractor says that Sjöbring has agreed to help in the search for a replacement, but will resign no later than December 31, 2015.
“Lars has done an outstanding job guiding Transocean through the extensive litigation following the Macondo Well incident, and was instrumental in securing the related settlements with BP and the Plaintiff’s Steering Committee announced earlier this year,” said Jeremy Thigpen, Transocean’s President and Chief Executive Officer.
“On behalf of Transocean, I thank Lars for his service, and wish him great success in his future endeavors.”
Prior to beginning this role in March 2014, Sjöbring served as the Vice President Legal Affairs, General Counsel and Secretary of Autoliv, Inc. from September 2007 to February 2014. Sjöbring served as Senior Legal Counsel and, subsequently, as Director, Legal, Mergers and Acquisitions for Nokia Corporation from September 2003 to September 2007. He also served as Foreign Legal Counsel for Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom LLP from September 2000 to June 2003.
